BJP being too liberal with “Private Matter” of Singhvi?

BJP has finally let off Singhvi stating that his alleged rendezvous with a lady advocate in the CD is his private matter.

The logic seems to be quite strange considering the fact that other alleged character in the video probably had agreed for the sexual gratification in lieu of some official favour through influential position of Mr. Singhvi in the ruling dispensation. Also, the alleged interaction took place in his court chamber provided by the Govt. to Mr. Singhvi for his Professional use and not for this kind of interaction. Also, it is interesting to note that during this interaction between the two in the court chamber, other partner was in the formal dress of an Advocate.

Given the above background, how the alleged interaction between two can be considered a private matter? If Abhishek Manu Singhvi himself considers it to be a private matter, his personal defence is understandable. Even the same argument of Mr. Salman Khurshid as Law minister in support of his party colleague is also understandable. However, how the same argument by the principal opposition party can be digested?

In fact, Earlier BJP had demanded explanation from Abhishek Manu Singhvi on the issue saying that his alleged role in the CD can’t be a private matter as this interaction seems to have “quid pro quo” angle. How BJP all of a sudden has revised its stand on the issue? 

While large no. of supporters of BJP are looking with dismay at this liberal approach of BJP towards Singhvi, we are reminded of a famous dialogue of a legendary actor Rajkumar in a Bollywood movie “Jaani Jiske Ghar shishe ke Bane Hote hain, wo doosron pe patthar nahin pheka karte(People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones on others)”.Probably this sermon by some senior leader of Congress to BJP may have done this trick.

Has the BJP been blackmailed into silence on this issue? It may or mayn’t be true; however their uncharacteristic soft approach towards their adversary seems to give credence to the above speculation of large no. of people.
